Donny Worzala- Professional Photographer in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida since 1989
My interest in photography began when I was eleven years old. I won a Polaroid camera in a bubble gum blowing contest at the local mall.
I loved the ability to create images through art, but quickly realized I had no talent to draw or paint. I was also a bit of a science nerd. Photography was a perfect blend of both worlds for me. I could be creative and quickly became obsessed over the magic, watching that image appear before my very eyes. Shortly after that, my older brother purchased a 35mm Nikon camera, which I took over. He soon insisted that I buy my own . My life from that point was all about photography. I soon discovered that high school would supply film and processing if I took pictures for the yearbook. But I craved to learn more. I managed to take a college class and learned to process and print black and white film. I was soon teaching the teachers at my high school and took on a part time job at a 1 hour photo lab. I continued my part time work while attending the University of North Florida. In 1989, I purchased A1A Photo in Sawgrass Village where Andiamos is currently located. At 21 I was the owner of my own photography studio and 1 hour lab.
I soon wanted to expand my services and moved to the Ponte Vedra Pointe Shopping Center .
Competition was fierce. I had to provide a top quality product with the best service around. I soon diversified my services and learned everything I could from hand printing 24x30 enlargements to photographing families with my Hasselblad medium format camera.
The digital age completely changed my business. I sold my processing equipment to a studio that was on the cutting edge. I soon formed a relationship with them where I learned file management, process control and retouching on the computer.
My experience allows me to be fluent with my camera like riding a bike or driving a manual transmission car. At first, you really have to think about what you are doing, but once you have mastered the skills, your instinct takes over and you no longer have to think out the process. This lets me interact with my clients and gives me the ability to know when to push the shutter button to get that cherished image. My greatest accomplishment is photographing families for over 26 years for all their special events. What seperates me from other photographers is I like to intereact with my clients and let my years of experience take care of the photography. My patience and calm disposition allow me to work well with children and your four legged family members. I feel like one of the lucky few to actually use my life long passion for my profession. I love to photograph wildlife and landscapes and use that to unwind and decompress. If you see me out and about with my camera feel free to come up and say hi.. I love sharing my knowledge and giving advice in any way that I can.
